Hyeok Yong Kwon

Welcome to my homepage!!
I am a Professor of Political Science and the Director of the Institute for Political Research (KUIPR)at Korea University. I study comparative political economy and comparative political behavior in OECD countries with a comparative perspective. My research centers on inequality and democratic politics, the political economy of electoral competition, the politics of the welfare state, and Korean politics.
My scholarly articles have appeared in many venues, including British Journal of Political Science, Democratization, Electoral Studies, International Political Science Review, Party Politics, Political Research Quarterly, Political Studies, and Socio-Economic Review, among others.
I hold a Ph.D. in political science from Cornell University. I am an Associate Member at Nuffield College, Oxford, and was a visiting research fellow at the University of Oxford and Duke University. I was an Assistant Professor at Texas A&M University before joining Korea University in 2005.
